Loudoun Apple Picking and Cider Mills Worth the Drive
Loudounberry pulls the strongest reviews of the bunch, but Willowsford's smaller crowds and Krop's vintage stalls make good reasons to skip it.
If you’re picking one farm for an apple-picking trip to Loudoun County this fall, start with Loudounberry. It carries the strongest reputation of the group, rated 4.7 from 177 reviews, a meaningfully higher score and review count than the alternatives here. That combination — lots of visitors, consistently high marks — is the best signal available for picking a first stop when you don’t already have a favorite.

Why Loudounberry edges out the rest
A 4.7 average across 177 reviews is hard to match, and none of the other farms in Loudoun come close on both counts simultaneously. Willowsford Farm and Krop’s Crops and Vintage Marketplace post respectable 4.6 averages, but with far fewer reviews feeding that number — 61 and 105, respectively. Wegmeyer Farms has the largest review base after Loudounberry at 155, but its 4.4 average trails the pack. For a day trip where you only have time for one farm, Loudounberry is the safer bet on the numbers alone.
Choose Willowsford Farm if you want the working-farm feel
Willowsford Farm is worth a look if what you’re after is a farm that reads as a farm first, rather than a market with produce attached. Its review count is the smallest of the four, which usually means a smaller crowd and a quieter visit — a real tradeoff against Loudounberry’s broader track record, but one that suits people who’d rather avoid lines than chase the highest-rated option. It’s a solid pick if the goal is a lower-key outing rather than the single best-reviewed stop in the county.
Choose Krop’s Crops and Vintage Marketplace if you want to browse, not just pick
Krop’s Crops and Vintage Marketplace stands apart because of the “vintage marketplace” half of its name — it’s set up to double as a shopping stop, not only a pick-your-own farm. At 4.6 from 105 reviews, it holds its own against Willowsford on rating while drawing a bit more traffic. If part of the appeal of a Loudoun day trip is wandering stalls and finding things beyond produce, this is the one built for that combination in a way the others aren’t.
Wegmeyer Farms as the familiar fallback
Wegmeyer Farms has the second-largest review base in this group at 155, so plenty of people have been through, even if its 4.4 average is the lowest here. A large volume of reviews at a still-solid score suggests a farm that handles crowds reliably rather than one that disappoints — a reasonable fallback if Loudounberry doesn’t fit your schedule, but not the one to seek out over the others if you have a choice.
The bottom line
None of these four farms is a bad choice — every one clears 4.4 stars, which is a high floor. But if you’re optimizing for the best shot at a great visit based on how past visitors have actually rated the experience, Loudounberry is the clearest answer. Lean on Willowsford Farm if a smaller, more farm-like outing matters more to you than chasing the top rating, and pick Krop’s Crops and Vintage Marketplace if you want shopping built into the stop. Keep Wegmeyer Farms in your back pocket as a well-trodden option if the others don’t line up with your plans.
