Above Wren at the Watermark Hotel, a red-tinted “sauna” opens into a 52-seat Tokyo-inspired lounge. Choose cocktails and small plates or commit to the intimate chef’s-counter omakase.

Salt sits below Open Road on Wilson Boulevard, but the entrance is around the corner on Lynn Street. Inside: low light, serious cocktails and a room designed to make Rosslyn’s glass towers disappear.

Tucked inside Open Road Distilling Co., Heirloom trades the bustle of Reston Town Center for a softer, more intimate room built around updated classics and cocktails.
Registry intel: Don’t stop when you reach Open Road—that is the outer shell. Heirloom opens daily at 4 p.m.; weekday happy hour is currently 4–6 p.m.
Twenty feet from Dolce Vita, this unassuming Fairfax Boulevard outbuilding holds a 30-seat “culinary speakeasy.” The five-course menu turns a suburban address into a full special-occasion experience.
Registry intel: The current tasting menu is $140 before pairings, tax and tip. Arrive no more than five minutes early—there is no waiting bar—and contact the restaurant about allergies in advance.
The building is easy to underestimate. Inside is a warm, ten-table modern European bistro where dinner feels personal and nobody is shouting over a dining room the size of a hangar.
Registry intel: Dinner currently runs Wednesday through Sunday, with brunch on weekends. Reserve; the restaurant may close early if the book is light.
At the top of the stairs inside Josephine is an eight-seat hideaway for champagne, cocktails and the feeling that you found the private room everyone else missed.
Registry intel: Eight seats means this is best treated as a planned first or last stop, not a guaranteed walk-in. Pair it with an Old Town stroll rather than an overstuffed itinerary.
B Side is not literally hidden anymore, and that is exactly why it belongs at the back of this registry: the secret is how much better it is than treating Mosaic as generic dinner-and-a-movie territory. Great records, serious drinks, zero pretense.
